The Robert Johnson of Republican Grifters

Some may not even know the name Robert Johnson. He was a rural musician who died at age 27, only a few years after he learned to play guitar. It wasn’t until decades later that someone even found a death certificate to widely confirm his existence and death. Cause of death and final resting place are still unknown, for a man who is one of the greatest examples, if not influencers, of American culture and its evolution.

Almost nobody will recognize the name “Robert Steele”. He only operated for a few months, before dying of unconfirmed causes probably sometime around August 2021. And yet he was the greatest grifter the Republican Party has ever known. He made touring acts like Matt Gaetz and Mike Lindell look like clumsy-fingered off-key amateurs. Consider the following quote, which is perhaps Steele’s equivalent of Johnson’s “Cross Road”:

When local idiots like Sheriff Wayne Ivey try to step out blathering about being a “Constitutional Sheriff” or some nonsense, recognize that these are just faint echoes lost in time, fragments recited by children, of the great master Robert David Steele.
